Preliminary study of CdZnTe for multipurpose radiation detection in broadband applications
Date: June 18, 2025 | Author: Chansun Park | Hits: 53
Considering the limitations of traditional semiconductors, such as Si and Ge, in high-energy radiation environments, in this study, we demonstrated the reliable and efficient performance of CdZnTe (CZT; II–IV compound semiconductor) in detecting and distinguishing radiation across a wide energy range. A 1-inch CZT crystal was grown using the vertical Bridgman method and subjected to post-processing to prepare radiation detectors. A 6 × 6 × 8 mm3 CZT sample exhibited a resistivity of 1.9 × ...
Fluorescent turn-off-on aptasensors with CdZnTe quantum dots and MoS2 nanosheets for highly sensitive detection of sulfadiazine residues
Date: June 18, 2025 | Author: Weihong Huang | Hits: 24
Growing concerns about antibiotic residues in food and environmental samples demand the development of highly sensitive and portable detection platforms. Herein, a fluorescent turn-off–on aptasensor was constructed using mercaptopropionic acid (MPA)-capped CdZnTe quantum dots (QDs) and MoS2 nanosheets for ultrasensitive sulfadiazine (SDZ) detection via Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET). The aptamer-conjugated CdZnTe QDs (QDs-apt) served as energy donors, while MoS2 nanosheets acted a ...
Characterization of THM CdZnTe for nuclear radiation detection
Date: June 17, 2025 | Author: Song Zhang | Hits: 125
CdZnTe crystals with large single-crystal volume have been grown using the travelling heater method. The concentration uniformity, structural defects, and resistivity of the THM crystals were measured. Two planar detectors were fabricated, which achieved a best resolution of 5.12 % at 59.5 keV and a μeτe value of 8.0 × 10−3 cm2/V. A quasi-hemispherical detector was further prepared and achieved a resolution of 2.27 % at 662 keV and a Peak-to-Compton Ratio of 4.76. Progress in crystal grow ...
